Many people mark the beginning of the holiday season with Thanksgiving...but for me, the beginning is Halloween! That, for a couple of reasons, first the eating thing...you're already having holiday parties and gorging on candies, another is buying stuff! You're buying costumes, decorations, and candy! Finally, because the mood is already starting to lighten and people are already gettin' into the spirit of things!
This year I dressed up as a rag doll...I guess you could say Raggedy Ann, but I wasn't sure how much I actually looked like her, so thats why I just say rag doll...lol!
The tradition at work is for a neighboring pre-school to come to our building to trick-or-treat, check out MoOgooGuypAN blog for more pictures on that and out Halloween brunch! Here's a couple of the co-workers who dressed up!
Hopefully more people get into it and dress up next year! The kiddies seem to get a kick out of our costumes too! The irony is, I don't dress up at night...seems a bit humbug for me when I'm walking with my nieces and nephews!
As been our tradition for the past couple of years, we go head over to my moms house to trick-or-treat. Because of the closeness of the homes and the realitively safe streets with little traffic I invite all my in-laws over too! Check out some of the costumes...
You can't really see it in this picture, but Nephi (on the left) is a pimp. His dad dressed up like this for Taei's 30th Birthday...it was cute, oh excuse me, I mean it was PIMP! LoL!! I dunno what Taei was, he bought a fake grill with gold teeth, a pirate hat, and borrowed my wig...and finally Teyana was a belly dancer. Except for the head gear...our family actually owns all that clothes! LoL!!
A close up of Taei and Teyana...
Here's my cutie patootie nephew, Blaze. He's a bit scared of Halloween in general so this skeleton costume was the only one he'd wear!
Here's Moroni as Spiderman. I dunno if you can see behind him, but that pink container was our candy to pass out...all the little ones decided to have their own trick-or-treat at our place before they left! LoL!!
Check out the white tiger. Poor baby fell asleep before we even started out on the road!! Isn't she adorable in this costume? Her daddy wanted her to be a gorilla...I think she could've pulled off either...lol!
Peter doesn't have his sign on yet...but he's a roach. See he just started a new job with the C&C where they gotta clean out the manholes, the sewer ones...lol! So he's been inspired by all his new little buddies for Halloween!
Tryin' to get everyone in the pix! We had a pirate, batman, spider man, two princess, a belly dancer, a white tiger, a "gangster", a roach, and some kind of biker skeleton! The glow in the dark skeleton already started trick-or-treating!
Amazingly my moms place wasn't as crowded as it had been in years past. I thought for sure since Halloween fell on a Friday night this year that it'd be 10x's crazier than the past couple of years, but nope. It was pretty chill, but the kids still got loads of candy!!
When we were nearly done walking, our little white tiger decided it was time to get up. Okay, I helped her get up a little...but she was missing out on all the excitement!!
Check out the baby doll!! She looks so different with all that hair! lol!!
Afterwards we all just kinda hung out...ate a bit more...and talked story. Taei and some of the nephews played a game of touch football...that was one plus of a quieter Halloween! Can't wait for next year!! Now bring on Christmas! LoL!!
It's the real deal today...unfortunately Justin Cruz said to expect showers and it is rather dark outside, but we'll see how things go!! I had a joint Halloween shindig with family from both sides. It turned out to be SUPER fun!! We all went to my moms house in Ewa Gentry area. It's cool over there because there are a TON of kids and people passing out candy. We don't have to worry too much about cars and we don't really have to walk very far for some sugar!! The menu was baked spaghetti, garden salad, garlic bread, and pizza...sorry no pix...I was hungry...lol!! But here are some of our characters...
So we had about 12 kids last night. As you saw they ranged from the wee little ones into BIG one!!
Even Peter got into costume!! lol!! We started out when it got dark, around 6'ish. Luckily it rained while we ate, stopped for a couple of hours, and then started up again once we were done and in the safety of the garage!!
It was so fun!! I also got post a short montage of lips...
What the heck...lol!! I guess this is a result of myspace people! Our babies are doing the myspace lip thing!?!?! I personally don't do it, but am amazed at our little ones! And believe it or not, Batman did the lip thing BEFORE Spiderman!! Cute...but whoa! lol!!
Ever since the invention of email we get inundated with holiday emails...spooky halloween stuff, thanksgiving thanful ones, and the spirit of Christmas kind. These ON TOP of the everyday angels, pass this on to 10 people, your age by chocolate consumption, yada yada yada...So today a co-worker sent this to me.
So where you ask, is the picture of my homemade glowstick?? Well we shook and shook...both me and Taei. I showed him the video and he tried it! No luck!! Ours didn't work!! So did we do something wrong or was this just some dumb trick by the Pepsi company to get people to buy Mountain Dew?? Well if you try it and it works let me know!!
On a side note, I'm attempting to make some Halloween treats. It's taken me three tries, but they are finally turning out...
LOL!! I still got a ton of rice crispie cereal I need to use up! But these are decorated chocolate dipped rice crispie treats!! Fun!!Every year kids from a nearby preschool come to trick-or-treat in our building! Because of scheduling conflicts, this year they get to trick-or-treat twice!! Today they came to our building and then I'm guessing they'll do more on the 31st! I didn't appreciate the fun of halloween as much when I was a kid...so I've been making up for it the last few years. Last year I was a pirate...arrgghh...the year before a Fairy...the kind with wings, not what you're thinking...and this year...
I was a scarecrow!! I was nervous about how my costume would turn out cuz I just had everything, but never put it all together! I'm excited about it...I think it turned out great...in fact I plan on dressing up on Halloween again! I'm quite proud of my belt and the hair sticking out of my hat because I put those two together, the wrist, neck, and ankle (can't really see them) strings I bought in a little kit for like $5! It's always more fun when alot of people participates! This is a huge improvement from last year...I heard, since this is my first Halloween with this office, last year there was only 1 and now look 9 of us!! What a fun group! There was a Bob the Builder but she went back to work already! The kids were adorable in their costumes!! Of course we had witches and wizards, super heroes, princess's, and look...Dorothy even found me!! I think Toto stayed back in Kansas, but now she can help me find a brain! LOL!! But the kids were super excited and I think they scored in our building...our office alone had three different stations where they could pick up a fruit cup, capri sun, and goody bag full of treats and little stickers and toys. The school has a "Candy Policy" with do's and don't's so that's why we had the fruit cup!
All in all there were about 80 kiddies. They had fun and weren't too scared of some of our people! It was a fun day! Maybe next year we'll have enough people to have a costume contest!!
