By the looks of my blog over the last few weeks, I watch ALOT of TV...lol!! But it could be worse? I could be out shopping for example and that's really dangerous now, because for some odd reason everytime I go out I get this strong desire to spend money. I dunno what that's all about, I wasn't always like that...hmmmm...I think I'm just doing my part to help our flailing economy! LoL!!
Well, last night Tiff and I had to do some shopping at Costco. Not to mention gas has dropped to ridiculous amounts and I wanted to fill up my tank for a change, so off we went. After spending waaaay too much at Costco we swung by Walmart to pick up a couple of movies. Tiff had been wanting to see Forgetting Sarah Marshall and since neither of us had seen it yet she picked it up, we bought some dinner, and headed over to my place to watch the movie.
We watched the "unrated" version. Two words...FULL FRONTAL...and yes that means male...lol! It kinda caught us a little off guard, so let that be a warning to you, if you're not ready for full frontal, watch the theatrical version. The movie was pretty funny. It's about a guy who's girlfriend dumps him. He tries to "date" (I use that term loosely) around to get his mind of his ex, but when that doesn't work he heads to Hawaii to try to stop thinking about her. He's then surprised that not only is she and her new boo in Hawaii, but staying at the same hotel!!
Jason Segal is pretty hilarious, I also like his character in How I Met your Mother, so I figured I'd like this movie. Just about the entire movie is filmed here on Oahu and although I live here I was so jealous of the beach scenes! LoL!! Kristen Bell from That 70's Show, is also in this movie. She looks a bit different from the show. A bit more slender, but so beautiful! After having watched Juno, Superbad, and Nick & Nora, I'd say if you liked those movies you'll like Forgetting Sarah Marshall.
Monday night is Heroes night for me, but I think I mentioned before that I don't like watching commercials. With technology today not only are we more lazy, but also more picky, so even though I'm home I let my DVR record my show and I normally watch something else so that afterwards I can watch my show and fast foward through the commercials. What a slippery slope of laziness I'm on! LoL!! So while my DVR ticked away I watched the movie Juno.
This is another pick from Tiff's selection. I'd seen the previews for this movie when it was first released in theatre's, but there just wasn't any draw for me. But once again Michael Cera won me over in Nick & Nora, so I figured I'd give Juno a shot.
So Juno is about a teenage girl who finds herself pregnant. She's a bright girl and realizes that she wouldn't be the best choice as a mom to this unborn baby. She struggles with options like abortion and adoption. She's not the typical mainstream high school girl. She's witty and kind of a smart@, but you'll love her anyways.
This movie was hilarious! I really wasn't expecting it to be so funny. I sat there watching it by myself, but still found myself laughing out loud at their sarcastic comments. I wasn't expecting the end so much and for some odd reason I teared up too. It was a really cute movie!! I heard alot of critics said that they thought Juno encouraged sexual activity amongst teenagers, I think it showed teenage girls the consequences and the options. Let's face it, teenagers have been sexually curious forever, one movie is going to start a whole new thought process!
But I'd really recommend Juno, in fact I'm thinking about buying my own copy now! I've also really enjoyed the services at TiffFlix...I'll try and pick up more movies soon! LoL!
Today was a pretty chill Saturday. I got up, read my book, went to acupuncture, stopped by to pick up some lunch, picked up some things from my moms, went home, had lunch, watched movies, played on the internet, and went to bed.
End of blog.
LoL!! Just kidding! That was exactly my Saturday, but I wouldn't just blog about that!! So remember my whole DVD review? Well I figured I'd make it a regular feature, at least for DVDs on movies that I hadn't watched in the theatre or blogged about. So Tiffany has one of the biggest DVD collections of all my friends. And since she was coming over for lunch (I bought some plates lunches from a friend of ours who was fundraising for a Family Reunion), she brought over a few of her DVDs. The first one we watched was Dan in Real Life.
Okay, I haven't always been a huge Steve Carrell fan. I don't watch The Office and normally don't make a big deal about watching his movies, but lately I've really been enjoying him! He humored me in Evan Almighty and then I loved him in Get Smart. Since I missed Dan in Real Life in the theatres we decided to watch that one first. It was GREAT! At first it's a little sad, then ackward, and the super awwww...lol!! The storyline reminded me a little of the movie, Family Stone. But Steve was a crack up and not in a super obvious sense. Sometimes his humor is mellow and you gotta pay attention to catch it. Definitely a thumbs up...I recommed watching it if you haven't seen it yet.
After watching Nick & Nora's Infinite Playlist, I fell in love with Michael Cera. No, not like I'm in love with Edward Cullen from the Twilight Series, but I love Michael Cera. His characters are always so cute. Even when he's trying to be smooth with the ladies or macho with his boys, he just reaks of innocence!! So our next pick was Superbad!
He didn't disappoint in this movie either! There's quite a bit of bad language in this movie and after watching the regular one, I'd hate to see what the "uncut" version is like. After the first 10 or 15 minutes and getting aclimated to the bad language it was hilarious! For me it brought back memories of trying to get alcohol as a underage teen! LoL!! It's funny how when you can't drink you want to and then when you can it sort of loses it's appeal! His chubby friend is a bit annoying, but I guess we've all had friends like that or even been like that a litte throughout high school!! I can't wait for more stuff from Michael Cera!
Stay tuned for DVD reviews!!
So last Tuesday Iron Man came out on DVD. Of everyone in our family, me and Taei have the very SMALLEST DVD collection. I'm talking between the fam and Tiffany they probably have a couple THOUSAND DVDs. Each person owning a few hundred...while me and Taei probably own about 30 at this point. But in my recent movie going craze, I've also noticed that I want to buy DVDs too...especially for the movies that I haven't watched. So on Tuesday I bought Iron Man, mostly for Taei, but didn't watch it until Saturday because of our work schedules, Saturday is the only day that Taei could watch a movie. But Friday night, I didn't have anything to do and my nephew came over for the weekend, so we headed to Walmart to pick up another movie for us to watch. We got I am Legend, First Sunday, and just for my own collection I got a 3-pack DVD with Best Man, Something New, and Deliver us from Eva...that 3-pack was only $13!! I mean all the DVD's I bought was $13, but to get a 3-pack for that price!! Cool!! So here are my movie reviews!!
AWESOME!! When I first saw the movie previews I thought it looked dumb. Tiff was so excited to go, but I never wanted to watch this movie, so we always watched other ones. After watching the DVD, I'm bummed I didn't get to see it on the BIG SCREEN! But I LOVED this movie. We actually ended up watching the movie 3 times this weekend, whenever someone else would stop over at our house, we'd ask, "Hey, have you watched Iron Man?" and when they said no, we'd pop it in. It never got boring!! I didn't know how I'd like Robert Downey as a "super hero" but he was the BOMB! He really fit the character, Iron Man and Tony Stark! The special effects were crazy cool and made me wish I was an engineer or something!! Plus, its a good thing we watched the movie with my nephew who told us to stay tuned after the credits!! I'm eagerly anticipating Iron Man II and plan on seeing that in the theatre! I'm a Will Smith fan...I like his music, his TV shows, and his movies. This movie was just okay for me. My favorite character is actually Sam, Will's dog, but I thought the movie was kind of cliche in terms of zombie movies. The zombie guys weren't that scary either, and I'm a HUGE scaredy cat, I don't do scarey movies, but the zombie guys reminded me of the mummys from the Mummy movies. If I had watched this movie at a friends house I probably wouldn't have bought it...but for $13, two showing, I guess I got my moneys worth.Okay, this movie disappointed me. I thought it was going to be funny and if you can read the print on the bottom of the movie poster it says that First Sunday is "laugh-out-loud funny"....ummm, okay, I have to disagree. All the funny lines from the movie trailers, were basically the only funny lines in the movie. Maybe it was the pairing of Ice Cube and Tracy Morgan? Maybe if Chris Tucker or Mike Epps were in the movie with Cube it'd be more funny? I was pretty disappointed and probably won't even watch my DVD again. I'm an Ice Cube fan as well...I like his music and his movies, but this movie tried to make him gangster and a family man at the same time. I wasn't buying it.
So what's the next DVD to come out at Walmart? I have to say that the cost of DVDs have gone down considerably. Maybe I can start building my DVD library? But I'm not even trying to compete with all my other crazy family! LoL!!
