Snap into a Slim Jim...
I'm a creature of habit...on a daily basis I'm sort of like Felix Ungar, the neat guy, on The Odd Couple. Not that I'm overly neat, you could check out my dresser drawers to prove otherwise, but I'm normally very organized and methodical especially in my daily routine. My husband on the other hand...IS NOT...adding that "spice" to our lives. Spice is a nice descriptive word, I have a few other words I would choose, but I'm trying to keep this blog G rated, so I digress. Anyways, I'm already a bit thrown off this morning because it was raining and I was going back and forth on whether or not I should catch the bus to work or drive. I finally decide that at 6:30, when I normally leave the house, I'll check out the window to see what the weather was like. While brushing my teeth (a little before 6 am) Taei calls me...this is never a good sign. He asks if I'm going to work today...hence, he's beating around the bush. He beats around the bush everytime he's about to PISS ME OFF...so I ask him why wouldn't I go to work today, it's just raining, not a mansoon. And then here's the surprise..."Babe, I accidentally locked my keys in the car."
**Some background info...we bought this litter beater car, just as a second car that would hopefully save us money on gas and also save additional mileage to my real baby, my EX, Expedition.
Some guy had it parked on the side of the road near where we live. We checked it out, it was a pretty good car, a manual transmission, so Taei had to refamiliarize himself with the stick, but other than that it served our purposes. But it only came with one key...kind of what happens when you buy a second hand car, from a guy, who bought it from another guy.**
So Taei asks me if I can help (read: look up the number for a locksmith, call the locksmith, make all the freakin' arrangements!)
Well since he's already taking the day off and I still have to go to work I tell him he just needs to wait. I do a Google search and find a locksmith that services our area. I don't normally require the services of locksmith, so it wasn't like I had a preference. But after calling the lady was really nice and said she would be able to send out the tech in about 20 minutes. So it costs $75, cash or charge, for them to get into your car. This isn't the first time this has happened. He's locked his keys in this car twice in the last 3 or 4 months, he's locked both our keys in our house, he's locked his key in our Expedition and even lost the only set we had for that too!! So needless to say, my next google search was for...
A lock out tool set...I'm really considering it!! And at just $13.99, it's lookin' to be a smart investment!

make a spare key or 2 so that your hubby can get to it when he locks himself out of the car... keep one where he can't get to and the other one that is readily available for his use... tell'em that very time he locks the key in the car, he has to put away $75.00 in an account for his ineptness...he gotta give you the money.. I got AAA and it takes care of the towing, opening of locked doors, etc. go check to see if it's in your budget..
Sorry but you can't raise your adult husband.. some guys and girls do take a long time to mature if any.. it's an individual choice... talk with him about these things and maybe going sink in.. iI was kinda like that, real sloppy and my wife would bitch like heck about her being a maid, but i got over it tho... took a long time to realize that marriage is a shared experience good and bad... the good always come on top of the bad.. my wife and i are finally best buddies like we use to be during our hunnah buttah daze..okey dokey?
always appreciate your comments, Tin Man!!
No, I'm not getting a AAA kickback. :-) We had 4 key-in-the-car issues last year, so it's been a good investment!
